The Faculty was officially established within the Lviv Agricultural Institute in 1946 under the name Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization. However, the teaching of agricultural engineering at the institution dates back to the late 19th century. In 1878, Prof. T. Rylskyi published his fundamental work Textbook of Agricultural Mechanics, which was used by students of the Higher Agricultural School in Dubliany.

In December 1903, the Academic Council decided to establish the Department of Rural Engineering, headed by the distinguished Prof. Kazimierz Ajdukiewicz. Under his leadership, an experimental mechanical-agricultural station for testing agricultural machinery was founded, a museum of agricultural equipment and tools was created, and competitions evaluating the quality of agricultural machinery were organized.

Today, the educational process at the faculty is supported by 85 academic staff members, 80% of whom hold a scientific degree or academic title. In addition to training specialists in engineering fields, the faculty’s lecturers actively contribute to the design and implementation of individual study plans for students of other academic programs. To this end, the faculty offers more than 30 elective courses in general education, enabling students to strengthen their professional competencies.
