Content of the event:
This was the fourth call between the Twins.
The following points were discussed:
- Sharing of digital learning materials and lectures
We would be interested in having mutual guest lectures with RVC. Our University would prefer live lectures through Zoom, but we are open to explore asynchronous lectures as well.
RVC suggested the following fields to explore:
o Companion Animal Medicine
o Livestock programs – RVC are strong in Diary, Beef and Sheep, but lack strength in Pig and Poultry
o Toxicology – RVC do not do a lot in Toxicology but are open to explore it.
- Clinical placements
Our British partners spoke to the UK Vet Schools to work together and offer more placement opportunities to Ukrainian students. There is interest amongst the UK Vet Schools, but they need to internally discuss how they can work together. RVC are keen to offer placements to SGU’s students, but it would probably be around two students at the time. The first placements could be offered from March
- Equipment
We sent a list of items our University would need. CCG are working with a London-based NGO that is shipping items to Ukrainian Twins. Once the UK Twin identifies the items, they are shipped to the NGO in London who then ships them to Ukraine. It was agreed to check that the technical equipment that RVC can send will be compatible with SGNUVMBL’s systems
- English-language courses
Reallyenglish are offering free licenses to Ukrainian Twins to access their online English courses. RVC suggested to have their student union work with SGU’s around providing English-language courses around Veterinary. Linking up the student unions may also be beneficial to discuss other topics between students.
Here is Reallyenglish website for more information about their offers https://www.reallyenglish.com/ - SGU will touch base with CCG if they are interested in any of the courses.
RVC will touch base with SGU around the English-language courses
