In 1988, O.D. Semkovych defended his doctoral dissertation, becoming the first Doctor of Technical Sciences at the faculty. He later achieved the rank of Professor (1990), was elected an Academician of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine (1992), and was honored with the title of Merited Figure of Science and Technology of Ukraine.

Mission:
The mission of the Department of Agroengineering and Technical Service named after Professor Oleksandr Semkovych is to train highly qualified specialists capable of effectively applying innovative engineering solutions for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector. The Department strives to advance scientific research and introduce modern technologies into agro-industrial production, to promote the preservation of natural resources, to enhance the efficiency of agricultural enterprises, and to contribute to food security.

Main research directions of the Department include:

• optimization of production structures through statistical simulation modeling;
• optimization of technological processes for the maintenance of tractors and automobiles;
• design and improvement of devices, equipment, and technologies for the technical servicing of machinery;
• design and improvement of working parts, machines, equipment, and technologies for cultivating, harvesting, primary processing, and further processing of agricultural products.
