The Department was established on 1 September 2017 as part of the Faculty of Land Management at Lviv National Agrarian University. It serves as a graduating department for the specialty 242 Tourism and Recreation at both the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.

At the initiative of students, the LNAU Tourism Club “KontouR” was founded as a platform uniting students, faculty, and postgraduate researchers for organizational and educational activities, as well as for the promotion of active forms of local-history and tourism-oriented practices at LNAU.

In 2024, the faculty members of the Department of Tourism, in particular Associate Professor Yuliia Borutska, Head of Department Oksana Krupa, and Senior Lecturer Pavlo Ivaniuk, developed and inaugurated the historical and local-history tourist route “In the Footsteps of Stepan Bandera.” Following the drone strike on 1 January 2024 on the premises of the Faculty of Land Management and Tourism at LNAU, the department resolved to provide a symbolic response by launching the idea of a route dedicated to the activities and student years of Stepan Bandera—revered as the Father of the Nation—in the town of Dublyany.

In June 2024, the route, after being designed and tested, received full support from the LNAU community. Consequently, the Academic Council of LNAU approved, and the Rector enacted by official order, the “Regulation on the Historical and Local-History Tourist Route ‘In the Footsteps of Stepan Bandera.’”

In September, as part of the celebration of World Tourism Day, the official opening of the route took place. By Stepan Andriyovych Bandera’s birthday, the route had been fully marked. We sincerely believe that in the near future we will be able to expand the geography of the route and organize a tour not only across Western Ukraine but also to Bandera’s burial place in Munich.
